Houses
As much as hamsters love to burrow, they also love to get into tiny spaces and hide. You should buy your hamster a grass or wood "house" designed for hamsters. You can also get your hamster fun, colorful toys to climb on. The grass and wood houses are good because your hamster can chew on them without you having to worry. The plastic ones, however, might make your hamster want to chew on it and the plastic isn't the best thing for your hamster. That is why you need to cut down your hamster's chewing habits by getting them hard treats and wood blocks. See the Treats section of In the Hammie Cage for more information on this. Some of the houses and play things that I recommend (and that my hamsters love!) are (pictured from left to right) Super Pet Grassy Get-a-ways (grass house--safe to chew), All Living Things Small Animal House (wood house), Super Pet Igloo (plastic house), Super Pet Snack-n-Nap Cafe (plastic toy), and Super Pet Sit-n-Snooze Sofa (plastic toy).

Plastic items above are available in different colors. Wood and grass items above are available in different shapes and sizes.
*Health Note* Play Things not only give your hamster a fun place to climb, but they also give your hamster extra exercise.
Toys
Also look for these great playthings to put in your hamsters' cage
or let your hamster play with outside of the cage. Super Pet CritterTrail Puzzle Playgrounds (available in 42-piece sets and 60-piece sets.) are my hamster Toastie's favorite! 60-piece set is pictured.
