First Aid
It is not necessary to give a hamster a daily medication of any sort. In fact, if you were to give your hamster medicine at all you would have to be very careful about what you give him/her. Hamsters are very sensitive to some types of medicine. Many antibiotics can cause severe allergic reactions and sudden death. There are many antibiotics known to be toxic for hamsters, but some of the major ones include penicillins, cephalosporins, dihydrostreptomycin, streptomycin, erythromycin, tetracycline, chlortetracycline, lincomycin, and cancomycin to name only a few. Never give your hamster and medicine intended for you, family members, or your other pets. Use only medicines prescribed for your hamster by your veterinarian and give no more than the recommended dose.
Incase of emergencies, it won't hurt to have a bottle of DriTail on hand. DriTail is used to treat wet tail. I recommend Mardel Dritail for Small Pets (left picture). Only use DriTail if your Veterinarian says it is alright. There are also some vitamins that you can give your hamster. Though it is not necessary, these supplements help make sure your hamster gets all the nutrients he/she needs. If you choose to give your hamster a supplement, I recommend Mardel Multipet Vitamin for Small Animals (right picture). Multipet powder vitamins are composed of 12 specially chosen essential vitamins in sufficient quality to supplement Small Animal needs. This specially formulated mixture added to your hamster's water assures daily nutritional requirements are met. Ask your Vet if Multipet is a good choice for your hamster.

*Health Note* If your hamster does not drink the water once Multipet is added, clean out water bottle and stop using the supplement.
*Caution* Remember, do not give your hamster more than the recommended dose of any medicine or supplement.
