FAQ
What do you mean when you say "Link Me"?
"Link Me" means you have to/can put a hyperlink to my website on your website. You must link me when you take one of the images I offer and put it on your site. The purpose of linking me is so the people that view your site know where you got the image. Basically, it's giving me (the artist) credit for my work. You can link me by linking the image itself, putting one of my buttons on the page where the image is, or a text link on the page where the image is. Make sure all links go to my splash page. Please see my Image Rules for more information.
Can I use your adoptions for my site?
You may display my adoptions on your site in the toybox or adopted section as long as you link (see previous question) the adoption to my site in some way. Please see my Image Rules for more information.
Can I use your images for my site because I'm making a site and I really like hamsters too!
That's great that you like hamsters, but so do a lot of other people in the world and that is not a reason to use my images. You may not use anything you see on my site unless it's an image I offer such as an adoption (see previous question). Please see my Image Rules for more information.
Can you put my button on your Button Wall?
No, I choose the sites that go on my button wall on my own. All the sites you see on my button wall are personal favorites. You can e-mail me your site URL and I will be happy to visit it, but it won't go on the button wall.
Where do you get your images?
I make all my images myself unless it says otherwise in the Credits or by the image itself.
What programs do you use to make your images?
The main programs I use are listed in the Credits.
What do I click in the Image Editing program to make pixel images like yours?
Tools vary depending on the program you use. The best way to learn to make images is spend hours doing nothing but playing with the program. Click on EVERY tool and feature to see what it does. Experiment with everything, and make some practice images. Look for tutorials and Help sections on the Internet and through the program itself. That is how I learned, and I think it is the best way.
Will you ever have different colors of hammies in the Dress-Up Hammie?
Yes, eventually there will me a wide variety of fur colors as well as more clothing and accessories.
Do you do link exchanges?
Affiliates only.
Will you be affiliates with me?
There is a bigger chance of me saying yes if you are my online friend already. You can e-mail me with your name and site URL, but I'm not promising anything. If I like your site and you, I'll accept. If you don't keep in touch with me then your patch will be deleted.
What is an affiliate?
When you see two websites are 'affiliates' it's another way of showing our support for eachother and our sites. To show their support, they link the other site through words or those 32x32 images, and that helps increase traffic to the other person's site.
Will you make me a website/layout?
I barely have time to maintain my own site anymore, where would I find time to work on yours?
Will you help me with my website that I'm building?
It totally depends on what you mean by "help". I've had some people ask for help, I said ok, and they told me everything they wanted on it and expected me to build the whole thing for them. If that's you're idea of "help" then see the previous question. However, if you ask me nice enough I might be able to give you a couple tips.
How do you make a website?
You make a website with HTML. If you don't know what that is, go find out here.
Will you host me?
No, I don't have enough disk space. If I switch hosts then I may consider expanding the hammieland network.
You need to put _[fill in the blank]_ on your site!
No, I actually don't need to do what you want with my personal site. However, I would appreciate suggestions for the site! If you submit a suggestion, it doesn't mean I will for sure use your idea. But if I do use it, you'll be rewarded! Got a suggestion? Contact Me!
Will you make me/my "shy" friend a custom graphic?
I'm thrilled you like my art, but making custom graphics is something I don't do.
Where did you get your domain? When did you get it? How much did it cost?
For all domain-related questions, please see About HammieLand or look at the 1st Host Web site.
Do you play NeoPets?
Not really, but I think I still have a shop, Odds 'n' Ends.
What webpage host are you with (Angelfire, Geocities, etc)?
I'm not with a webpage host at all. I host myself. That is what a domain name is. You buy it so you can host your own website under it's own name. It runs off of the domain host that I bought it from, which is 1st Host Web. So, basically, I'm with myself.
What does direct linking mean?
Direct linking (also known as hotlinking) is where you link a graphic to your web page by coding it with the Properties URL so that the graphic comes from someone else's computer (or their server's computer) instead of your own (or your server's computer). This causes not only your graphics to load slower, or may appear as a missing icon, but it steals bandwidth which is very costly for those you are doing this to! That is why direct linking is an internet NO NO!!! Instead, save it to your own computer by right clicking on the image and save it to your own computer then upload it to your site. if you need somewhere to upload to, use Photobucket.
When will you change your layout/update your site?
I'll update when I: (a) have time (b) have something to update (c) feel like it.
